Historic 9-room pet-friendly inn on Squam Lake
Farm-to-Table Breakfast
Mike and Erica prepare a cooked-to-order breakfast each morning using eggs from their own hens, bacon and sausage from their pigs, and maple syrup tapped on-site. The menu includes American, vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, with fresh muffins and hot coffee available throughout the day. Guests can purchase the inn's own bacon, sausage, and maple syrup from the on-property meat store before heading home.
Amenities
The inn includes a fully enclosed dog park on the property, complete with special doggie amenities and a fenced area for off-leash play. Dogs receive their own breakfast served on a silver platter, and the innkeepers offer to watch pets while guests go out for a date night. Pet-friendly rooms such as the Moose Mountain room have private entrances and are kept meticulously clean with no lingering pet odors.
Leisure
Guests have complimentary access to a private beach on Little Squam Lake, a 4-minute walk from the inn, with kayaks and stand-up paddleboards available for use. The property grounds include outdoor fire pits with s'mores packages, a hammock, picnic tables, and a screened-in gazebo. Farm animals including chickens, ducks, and pigs wander the yard, providing entertainment for children and adults alike.
Family-Friendly Accommodations
The inn offers family entertainment options including board games, puzzles, coloring books, and kids' outdoor play equipment in the common areas. A Parent Date Night service lets adults enjoy a lakeside dinner while the innkeepers supervise children and pets. Rooms are spacious with five-star luxury linens, spa-like baths, and sitting areas, with the Church Island room providing a separate bedroom and sitting space.
Location
Inn On Golden Pond sits across the street from Squam Lake in Holderness, New Hampshire, where the movie On Golden Pond was filmed. The property is a 5-minute drive from Holderness Harbor, Walter's Basin waterfront restaurant, and the Squam Lakes Natural Science Center, with the Polar Caves 19 km away and Loon Mountain ski area 47 km away. The inn also offers archery, movie nights, walking tours, and a golf course for guest recreation.
